Player Bio

Miles Emmanuel Bridges was born in 1998 in Flint, Michigan to Raymond and Cynthia Bridges. He started his high school career at the Flint Southwestern Academy and posted 10 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks per game. Bridges transferred to Huntington Prep School in West Virginia for his sophomore season and averaged 9.8 points, 9.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.7 steals. As a junior, he displayed his versatility by recording 15.7 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.8 blocks per game. In his senior year, Bridges excelled by averaging 25 points, 10 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 2.0 steals. He was subsequently named to both the McDonald's All-American and Jordan Brand Classic All-Star teams. You can follow him on Twitter (@MilesBridges) and Instagram (@milesbridges). A basketball generation before Bridges made his way from Flint to East Lansing, coach Tom Izzo won a championship with a group of players from Flint, including Charlie Bell. The high-flying forward scored 21 points in his collegiate debut in a loss against Arizona. It was the first of 10 games where he reached the 20-point plateau. He scored a season-high 33 points, including five three-pointers, in a January loss to Purdue. Bridges missed the majority of December with an ankle injury. He finished the season with averages of 16.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. Although the Spartans were knocked out in the first weekend of the 2017 NCAA Tournament by Kansas, Bridges averaged 20.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in two games. The forward returned for his sophomore season and put up similar numbers -- 17.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists per contest. The season did not end with more postseason success, but Bridges hit a trio of three-pointers in his last four games. He once again averaged 20.0 points in two NCAA Tournament games, but the Spartans were ousted by Syracuse in the Round of 32. Following the loss, the forward decided to forgo his final two seasons of eligibility and made himself available for the 2018 NBA Draft. Bridges was selected with the 12th overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers. He was subsequently traded to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for the pick before him, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
