Postgame Quotes - November 25, 2013

(On approach to the game tonight): “We always take the game serious. I think the way we started out the game, we talked about it beforehand just trying to get out to a good start. I thought our activity on the defensive end was really good. I thought that’s one of the reasons why we got into the flow that we got and we made shots. Brandon (Jennings) made some pull-up 3’s. A lot of guys made shots, a lot of early post-ups. But I just thought defensively our early activity allowed us to play the way we played in the first quarter.”

(On the second unit identity): “We had been relying so much on Rodney (Stuckey). When he came in the game, we put the ball in his hands either to score the ball or beat someone off the dribble. With Charlie (Villanueva) being able to play and Will (Bynum) coming back, the pick-and-roll on our offense is pretty good with those guys because Charlie spreads the floor so well and it gives Andre (Drummond) more of a rhythm to get to the rim. If Charlie continues to make shots the way he’s been making them the last couple of games, it opens up the floor a little bit more.”

(On Villanueva’s 3s): “It opens the court up. It definitely opens the court up, Charlie’s been doing this his whole career, he just needs the opportunity and he got that in the last couple games.”

(On building momentum): “It’s chemistry, it takes time, guys are learning one another. We learn what the coach wants, and what he doesn’t want and we’re just going out there and trying to execute it.”

(On playing his former team): “It wasn’t really just about going against my former team. We definitely need this win right now because we’ve been struggling, so it feels good just to be able to get a home win. Hopefully we can keep it going now that we have a home stand with two more games.”

(On scoring confidence) “It felt great just to see that shot go in the basket, I’ve been working very hard. I worked a little bit after shoot around today. I’m just still putting in work and hopefully it keeps paying off.”

(On postgame discussions with team): "It was a lot of discussions in there. Right now we are a team that is searching for an identity. Right now we do not have one."

(On Game): "I expressed my disappointment in how we played. The last thing I want us to do as a team is feel sorry for ourselves and it seems like when a team jumps on us and get out on a bit of a roll we get into that mindset."

(On team play): “There is just too much basketball to be played. We have to figure this out as a team and that is just the bottom line. We are searching for good combinations of players and we are searching for an identity."

(On facing former team): “I had to get the jitters out coming back home, back to The Palace. It just wasn't a good experience because my team fell short. It was exciting to be back, but it wasn't the finish we wanted.”

(On ninth straight loss): “We have to try and stay positive. Like coach said, we have to find our identity, what kind of basketball team we want to be. We have to play harder and play for each other. That's our focus right now.”
