Detroit Pistons Announce George Clinton and The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards as Halftime Entertainment for December

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – The Detroit Pistons announced today halftime entertainment for games in December as part of the Pistons Concert Series. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member George Clinton will bring his “P-Funk” style of music including funk, soul and rock and Parliament-Funkadelic hits on Friday, December 19 vs. the Toronto Raptors and The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards will bring their Motown sound on Friday, Dec. 26 vs. the Indiana Pacers.

“We are pleased to announce the addition of George Clinton and Dennis Edwards to our halftime performances in December,” said Harlan Hendrickson, Vice President of Marketing for Palace Sports & Entertainment and the Pistons. “We look forward to putting on two great halftime shows and to thrill the fans with these legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Famers.”

Recording both as Parliament and Funkadelic, George Clinton revolutionized R&B during the 1970s, twisting soul music into funk by adding influences from several late-’60s acid heroes: Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, and Sly Stone. The Parliament/Funkadelic machine ruled black music during the 1970s, capturing over 40 R&B hit singles (including three number ones) and recording three platinum albums.

Clinton has received a Grammy, a Dove (gospel), and an MTV music video awards, and has been recognized by BMI, the NAACP Image Awards, and Motown Alumni Association for lifetime achievement. Clinton’s Partliament/Funkadelic was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.

Dennis Edwards joined The Temptations in 1968, when the band entered their “Psychedelic Soul” period, and was the voice of a string of powerhouse singles, including “Cloud Nine,” “I Can’t Get Next To You,” “Psychedelic Shack,” “Ball of Confusion,” “Run Away Child,” “Running Wild,” and “Papa Was A Rolling Stone.” Edwards was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989.

In addition to Edwards, The Temptations Review consists of David Sea, Mike Pattillo, Chris Arnold and Paul Williams Jr.
