PELICANS SENIOR DANCE TEAM AUDITIONS

The New Orleans Pelicans are holding auditions for their Senior Dance Team. The audition is open to men and women ages 55 and older who are energetic and are interested in being part of an exciting dance team that performs at Pelicans home games.

Can I audition for this team if I am under 55 years of age?
Since this is a “senior” dance team we are ideally looking for men and women ages 55+. However, anyone 50+ will be allowed to audition for the opportunity to earn a spot on the team.

Are there any attire requirements for the audition?
No attire requirements. Just be comfortable and ready to dance. We are looking for big personalities so you are encouraged to dress in a way that expresses your personality and/or team spirit.

Do we need to come with anything prepared for the audition?
The audition will consist of choreography that we will teach you and freestyle, so you do not have to come with anything prepared. We want to see how well you can pick up and perform our choreography. We also want to see your own moves and how comfortable you are entertaining, having fun and just being silly.

Is there an audition fee and/or any expenses involved in being a member of the team?
There is no audition fee. The Pelicans will provide all official uniforms/costuming. Many of the senior dance team’s routines are theme-driven which requires costuming to compliment the theme. Therefore, on occasion senior dance team members will be asked to wear basic pieces from their personal wardrobe (jeans, black pants, etc.) to help accommodate.

Do I submit my audition application in advance?
You must complete the online application and release form by noon on Friday, October 21. Blank applications and release forms will also be on hand the day of the audition for anyone who may not have access to a computer/printer to prepare this in advance.

How often does the Senior Dance Team practice and perform?
Senior dance team members are expected to be at practice every Saturday morning at Premier Fitness (1909 Airline Dr., Metairie, LA 70001) from 10:30am – 12:30pm. An occasional Saturday will be given off due to holidays or if the performance schedule permits. One dress rehearsal will take place at the arena on a week night prior to each performance to set and perfect the routine. The senior dance team performs at about 1 game per month. Additional performances for team appearances may be requested from time to time throughout the season. Members are scheduled for promotional appearances based on availability. All members do not have to participate in all promotional appearance.
