After a recent name-the-mascot contest, the New Orleans Pelicans unveiled “Pierre the Pelican” during a first-quarter timeout of Wednesday’s Opening Night against the Indiana Pacers. The red, navy blue and gold costumed bird will be wearing a road navy Pelicans uniform over its feathers with the number “00” and “PIERRE” on the back.

New Orleans started quickly prior to Pierre’s debut, taking an early lead that forced Indiana to call the early timeout midway through the first period.
