SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz White defeated the San Antonio Spurs, 87-58, in the Salt Lake City Summer League at Vivint Arena on Tuesday.

The Jazz White won this game in wire-to-wire fashion, thanks to a 17-10 first quarter. It was actually tied at times in the second quarter but the Jazz White team put the game to bed behind a 28-12 third quarter and a 25-15 fourth quarter. The Jazz’s defense was the difference, holding the Spurs to 34% from the field and 14% from 3-point range. The Jazz White outscored San Antonio in the paint 48-30 while out-assisting them 19-12. The Jazz also won the rebounding battle, 61-40.

The San Antonio Spurs were led by Justin Turner and his 13 points and seven rebounds. Matt Mitchell led the bench with 11 points and two boards. No other player reached double figures in scoring and no one on the team had more than three assists. DaQuan Jeffries did accrue eight points, seven rebounds and two steals.

The Utah Jazz White’s leading scorer was Trent Forrest, who provided 19 points, four rebounds and seven assists on 8-for-11 shooting. Udoka Azubuike amassed eight points, 14 rebounds and two blocks. Jarrell Brantley went just 2-for-11 from the field but still collected 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. Juwan Morgan led the bench with 13 points, three rebounds and two assists.

Both teams return to action on Wednesday, with the Utah Jazz White facing the Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio playing Utah Jazz Blue.
