Las Vegas Summer League: Tyrese Maxey leads the way in Sixers' win over Mavs

The Sixers' 2020 first-round pick dominates his first Summer League game in Las Vegas.

The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Dallas Mavericks, 95-73, in the MGM Resorts Summer League at Thomas and Mack Center on Monday.

Philadelphia began the game with a dominant, 31-14 first quarter before outscoring the Mavs by nine points in the second to hold a 57-31 halftime advantage. The Sixers led by as much as 38 in the second half, with Dallas never pulling within 20 points.

Philadelphia outscored Dallas in fastbreak points 22 to 2 and won the turnover battle 23 to 14. The Sixers’ bench also outscored the Mavs’ 34 to 18, thanks in large part to Rayjon Tucker and Braxton Key combining for 23 points.

Tyrese Maxey, a first-round pick in 2020, led Philly with 21 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Isaiah Joe amassed 15 points and four rebounds. Paul Reed collected nine points, eight rebounds, three steals and four blocks. Rookie Jaden Springer finished with 11 points, two assists and two blocks in 24 minutes.

Second-year guard Tyrell Terry led the Mavs with 22 points, two rebounds, three assists and two steals. Eugene Omoryui had 16 points and six rebounds. LJ Figueroa accrued 12 points, nine rebounds and two assists.

On deck for Dallas is a matchup with the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. The Sixers return to action Thursday against the Atlanta Hawks.
