Kenyon Martin Jr. has inched closer to fulfilling a “lifelong dream.”
The son of former New Jersey Nets player Kenyon Martin Sr. announced his decision to declare for the 2020 NBA Draft on Tuesday.
He shared the news in an Instagram post.
“There was a lot of hate and doubt about my journey but I feel I’ve done what was best for me and now is the time to take the next step which is to declare for the 2020 NBA Draft.” he wrote. “It has been a lifelong dream of mine and I will continue to work day by day to prove to myself and everyone that this is where I belong.”
Martin Jr. initially planned to play college basketball at Vanderbilt, but spent the past year at post-graduate school IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. The 6-foot-7 wing played his high school ball at Sierra Canyon in Southern California.
His father, Martin Sr., suited up for 15 seasons in the NBA and was drafted No. 1 overall in 2000.
