Dallas’ music roots run deep. The 2023/24 Dallas Mavericks City Edition uniform will honor 150 years of rich cultural American Rhythm and Blues history by partnering with Grammy award-winning artist and North Texas native Leon Bridges.
This collaboration serves as tribute to the North Texas history-making musicians and the cultural movement they helped create. It’s a Bridge from the past to the present.
The uniform features a dark, moody palette. This is to channel the dark, edgy, honest urban music filled with tough times and despair that was explored in the 19th century. However, this music transformed the listener’s hearts with warmth, hope and inspiration. The genre we know today as The Blues.
Leon’s rhythmic embossed handwritten lyrics are also featured on the jersey along with guitar strings that tie the community all together. The jock tag includes Leon’s signature and “For All of Dallas Fort Worth.”
