Anthony Edwards shares his unbreakable bond with his siblings as they navigate the challenges of family tragedy and the journey to superstardom.
Family over everything.
Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards lives by this motto.
Whether he is talking about getting his “coolness” from his granddad or his competitiveness from his siblings, Edwards credits his family for shaping his character on and off the basketball court.
“Family first,” Anthony said. “I love my family. I want to hoop, go to the house, play the game, be with my family, my dogs and chill.”
Edwards shares this sentiment on the second episode of Pass The Rock Season 2, currently streaming in the NBA App.
In this behind-the-scenes look, Edwards, his two brothers, Bubba and Antoine, and his sister, Antoinette, had a dance contest and played a spirited game of spades.
Growing up, Anthony and his siblings played football, basketball and baseball. According to Bubba, when his younger brother finally beat him one-on-one in basketball, “it was like, OK, you’re going to be special.”
Edwards is averaging career-bests for the West-leading Timberwolves this season: 26 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.
When their mother and grandmother both died in the same year, when Edwards was 14, it was his siblings who played a pivotal role in his upbringing.
“My older siblings kind of just took care of me and made sure I was all right,” Anthony said. “I just don’t trust people. The people I came in with is the people I’m gonna stay with. I’m not adding no other people to my circle.
“I think that’s the point of having siblings is to be there for each other.”
The debut of the second season of Pass The Rock focused on Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr.
