Memphis, Tenn. – The NBA today announced that Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins was named the NBA Western Conference Coach of the Month for March/April 2023. This is the third career monthly award for Jenkins, who also won with the Grizzlies for January 2020 and December 2021.
Jenkins guided Memphis to a 14-8 record for the combined months of March and April, including a conference-leading 12-5 record in March. The Grizzlies clinched the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference Playoffs, captured the Southwest Division championship and secured the NBA’s best home record this season (35-6) during the months of March and April.
Memphis won seven consecutive games from March 17-28, tied for the longest winning streak in the conference since the beginning of March. The winning streak started with a franchise-record 29-point comeback win on March 17 at San Antonio, the largest come-from-behind victory in the NBA this season. The Grizzlies recorded three of their league-leading 12 20-point victories and seven of their franchise-record 15 130-point games in March and April while using nine different starting lineups and 13 different starters.
The Grizzlies finished the 2022-23 regular season with a 51-31 record (.622) and set single-season franchise records for scoring average (116.9 points), 3-pointers made (12.0), points in the paint (58.4) and fast break points (18.0). Memphis also led the NBA in field goal percentage allowed (.453) and led the Western Conference in defensive rating (110.7).
Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers was named the NBA Eastern Conference Coach of the Month.
