Grizzlies race past Pacers for season-high ninth straight win

The Memphis Grizzlies (29-13) defeated the Indiana Pacers (23-21) 130-112 on Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, securing Memphis’ season-high ninth consecutive win. The Grizzlies extended their season-best road winning streak to four games and won their 11th straight game against Eastern Conference opponents.

Desmond Bane led the Grizzlies with 25 points and eight rebounds in his annual Indiana homecoming, and Ja Morant posted his 13th double-double of the season behind 23 points and 10 assists. Santi Aldama finished with 17 points off the bench, Ziaire Williams contributed 13 points in his first start of the season and Brandon Clarke scored 11 points in his return from a six-game absence due to left hip soreness. 

Steven Adams and Jaren Jackson Jr. combined for 19 points and 19 rebounds. Jackson Jr. extended Memphis’ franchise record for consecutive games with multiple blocks to 13 after recording two blocks. 

Chris Duarte led the Pacers with 25 points off the bench, and Bennedict Mathurin followed with 16 points and seven rebounds. TJ McConnell posted his second double-double of the season with 13 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds off the bench, Isaiah Jackson scored 12 points, and Andrew Nembhard added seven points and seven assists.

In a matchup between the two highest-scoring fast break teams in the NBA, the Grizzlies outscored the Pacers 38-13 in transition and registered 25 fast break points by halftime. Memphis finished four fast break points shy of tying the franchise record.

The Grizzlies shot 55.2% from the field and 37.5% from 3-point range, holding the Pacers to only 36.9% from the field and 23.4% from deep.

Memphis led 36-28 at the end of the first quarter and mounted a 30-9 run in the second quarter to lead at halftime, 68-52. The Grizzlies carried a 21-9 run into the fourth quarter to reach their biggest lead of the night at 34 points with 6:25 remaining in the game, which marked the Pacers’ largest deficit of the season.
