Grizzlies fall to Warriors, 137-116

The Memphis Grizzlies (23-47) fell to Golden State Warriors (36-32) 137-116 on Wednesday night at Chase Center. 

GG Jackson II led the Grizzlies with a career-high 35 points, five rebounds, and 3 assists and became the youngest player in the NBA history (19 years, 94 days) to make seven or more 3-pointers in a game. Jaren Jackson Jr. contributed 28 points. Santi Aldama netted 27 points, nine rebounds and four assists.  

Jonathan Kuminga paced the Warriors with 26 points for his eighth consecutive game scoring in double figures to go with five rebounds and four assists. Klay Thompson added 23 points off the bench. Andrew Wiggins notched a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Stephen Curry finished with 14 points shooting 4-of-7 from 3-point range to reach 300 3-pointers made this season. 

Trayce Jackson-Davis (13 points), Chris Paul (12 points) and Draymond Green (10 points) all finished in double-figures to contribute to the Warriors seven players to have double-digit scoring nights. Golden State’s bench outscored Memphis’ second unit 63-20.

Golden State led 33-32 after the first quarter, and the teams were tied at 58 with 2:07 left in the first half before the Warriors went on a 22-0 run bridging the second and third quarters. The Warriors grabbed a 27-point lead during the third quarter their largest of the night to extend their lead over the Grizzlies.

Golden State shot 58 percent from the field and 48 percent from 3-point range and held Memphis to 43 percent from the field and 36 percent from 3-point range. 

Maozinha Pereira, who signed a 10-day contract with Memphis earlier this season, made his NBA debut and became the 29th player to appear in a game with the Grizzlies this season, a franchise record.

The Grizzlies travel to Frost Bank Center to face the San Antonio Spurs on Friday, March 22 at 7 p.m. CT in the third game of a four-game road trip. The game will be broadcast on Bally Sports Southeast and 92.9 FM ESPN.
