Grizzlies fall to Kings in final minute, 113-109

The Memphis Grizzlies fell to the Sacramento Kings 113-109 on Tuesday at FedExForum.

After a 17-7 run and a career-high 20 points in the fourth quarter from Ja Morant, Memphis trimmed the Kings lead down to one point, 109-108, with 5.3 seconds remaining in the game. De’Aaron Fox was fouled by Morant and made both freethrows to push the Kings ahead, 113-109.

Fox led the Kings with 32 points, eight rebounds and six assists while Harrison Barnes added 26 points. Kevin Huerter tallied 18 points and six rebounds and Malik Monk tallied 14 points.

Morant led the Grizzlies with 34 points (12-21 FG), seven rebounds and six assists. Jaren Jackson Jr. followed with 22 points and five blocks. Dillon Brooks added 14 points, five rebounds and five assists.  John Konchar finished with 10 points and nine rebounds. Steven Adams mounted 16 of Memphis’ 49 rebounds.

Memphis led Sacramento 31-28 at the end of the first quarter. The Kings took the lead in the second quarter after mounting a 24-9 run, leading 64-59 at the half. Sacramento increased its lead behind a 15-6 run and 13 points from Fox, leading 88-76 at the end of the third quarter. The Kings reached their largest lead of the night in the fourth quarter, 99-85, with 6:06 remaining in the game.
