Walt Scher enters his third second season with the Trail Blazers and Rose Quarter in 2023-24. He was promoted to Director of Corporate Communications in February 2023 after being hired as Corporate Communications Manager in October 2021. In his role, Scher serves as a media contact for the business operations of the organization while handling brand storytelling surrounding DEI, sustainability, community and arena innovations. He is also responsible for internal communications, press releases, media training, and more. On the Rose Quarter side of the business, Scher assists with show announcements and media management on-site at concerts and events. Prior to his time with the Trail Blazers, he worked for CBS Sports, managing CBS Sports Network, NFL and and college basketball publicity efforts. A Saint Paul, Minnesota native, he completed internships with a pair of NFL clubs, earning the 2017 Pete Rozelle Award with the Minnesota Vikings public relations staff. Scher graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia and currently resides in North Portland with his wife, Megan, and dog Fiona.
