The NBA will name the MVP of the IST and the All-Tournament team, distribute a prize pool to the players of the teams that participate in the knockout rounds and finally award the champion team the brand-new NBA Cup! 

Tournament Nights will be on Tuesdays and Fridays from November 3 to November 28, where all games will be Tournament games. Each team will play four group play games, playing each team in their group once, with two games at home and two on the road.

Friday, November 3 – IST Tournament Nights Begin

Tuesday, November 28 – IST Tournament Nights Conclude

Monday, December 4 - Tuesday, December 5 – IST Quarterfinals

Thursday, December 7 – IST Semifinals at Neutral Site

Saturday, December 9 – IST Championship at Neutral Site

The winner of each of the six groups along with two wild card teams (one from each conference determined by best Group Play record among all non-group winners) will advance to the single-elimination Knockout Rounds which include the Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Championship.

All 30 teams were divided into 6 groups of 5 teams apiece. Groups composed of teams from the same conference, but not based on divisions and determined by random draw based on prior season’s regular season record. 

The Quarterfinals will take place at the home markets of the higher seed, while semifinals and Championship will be held in a neutral site.
