Jason Hervey enters his second season as Portland’s advance scout in 2022-23. He joins the Trail Blazers after spending two seasons as a quality control coach for the Minnesota Timberwolves from 2019-21. Prior to that, Hervey was the advance scout for the Phoenix Suns from 2016-19 and a personnel scout with the Timberwolves from 2014-16. Hervey began his NBA career with the Detroit Pistons as video coordinator from 2005-09 before joining the Washington Wizards for three seasons as the head video coordinator and advance scout from 2009-12. He returned to Detroit as the director of player development from 2012-14. A native of Lapeer, Michigan, Hervey graduated from Defiance College with a Bachelor of Science degree in health and physical education/fitness and played on the basketball and football teams. He attended graduate school at Michigan State.
