Assistant General Manager

Andrae Patterson joined the Trail Blazers as an Assistant General Manager in January of 2022. He is active in player personnel decisions, roster construction and scouting and plays a leadership role in improving the Trail Blazers front office processes across multiple departments. Before arriving in Portland, Patterson most recently served as Senior Director of Basketball Operations for the Cleveland Cavaliers, where his responsibilities included personnel scouting, staff management and interdepartmental community initiatives. He originally joined the Cavaliers as the Director of Basketball Administration in 2017. Prior to his time in Cleveland, Patterson spent two seasons in Utah as the Player Personnel/Player Programs Coordinator for the Jazz from 2015-17. Before transitioning to front office roles, Patterson was an Assistant Coach for the Idaho Stampede of the NBA G League for the 2014-15 season and spent four seasons on the coaching staff at the University of Texas at Arlington as the Director of Basketball Operations/Video Coordinator (2010-12) and as an Assistant Coach (2012-14). As a player, Patterson played two seasons in the NBA after being drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the 46th overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft. He then played internationally for nine seasons, including five seasons in Liga ACB in Spain. A native of Abilene Texas, Patterson played four seasons for Hall of Fame coach Bob Knight at Indiana (1994-98) while earning a degree in criminal justice. He and his wife, Kiana, along with their children live in the Portland area.
