The National Basketball Association announced today that the Golden State Warriors’ 2016-17 season, presented by Kaiser Permanente, will tip off at home against the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday, October 25. The Warriors, who recorded an NBA-record 73 regular-season wins in 2015-16, will make 28 national TV appearances, the maximum number of games that a team can be scheduled on ABC, ESPN and TNT.

The Warriors, who last year became the second team ever to win at least 67 games in consecutive seasons and earned a second-straight trip to the NBA Finals, will play a pair of holiday games against the Cleveland Cavaliers, with rematches of the last two Finals slated for Christmas Day at Cleveland and Martin Luther King Jr. Day at Oracle Arena on January 16. Golden State will be featured on the NBA’s Christmas Day slate for the fourth-straight season, marking the sixth time in the last seven years that the Warriors will play on the holiday.

Of Golden State’s 28 national television appearances this season, five (5) games are scheduled on ABC, 10 on TNT and 13 on ESPN. The Warriors’ ABC lineup tips off with their Christmas Day meeting at Cleveland and includes a home game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday, January 28, in addition to a trio of road games: at the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday, February 11; at the New York Knicks on Sunday, March 5; and at the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday, March 11.

Highlights of the team’s TNT docket include the season opener versus the Spurs on Tuesday, October 25 and the Martin Luther King Jr. Day game against the Cavaliers on Monday, January 16. In addition, the TNT slate features home games against the Thunder on Thursday, November 3; the Houston Rockets on Thursday, December 1; the Knicks on Thursday, December 15; the Detroit Pistons on Thursday, January 12; and the Clippers on Thursday, February 23.

Golden State’s 10 ESPN appearances include visits to Oracle Arena by the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday, January 4; the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday, January 6; the Thunder on Wednesday, January 18; the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, February 8; and the Boston Celtics on Wednesday, March 8. In addition to their 28 combined appearances on ABC, TNT and ESPN, the Warriors have eight (8) games scheduled on ESPN Radio, as well as nine (9) currently scheduled to air on NBA TV, the league’s 24-hour cable network.

The Warriors have a pair of five-game homestands, from Nov. 26-Dec. 5 and Dec. 28-Jan. 6, and a pair of five-game road trips, from Dec. 7-13 and Feb. 27-March 6. Golden State finishes the season with six of its last seven games at home. The Warriors will play 17 back-to-backs and have one instance of four games in five nights occurring from Dec. 7-11 as part of a five-game road trip.

Tip-off time for the majority of Golden State’s home games during the 2015-16 season will be 7:30 p.m., with five exceptions: a 5 p.m. start against the Phoenix Suns on Sunday, November 3; a 5:00 p.m. start against Cleveland on Monday, January 16, as part of the league’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day showcase; a 5:30 p.m. start against the Clippers on Saturday, January 28; a 5 p.m. start against Memphis on Sunday, March 26; and a 5 p.m. start against the Washington Wizards on Sunday, April 2.

The 2016-17 NBA schedule will once again use a 30-team format (two conferences of 15 teams each, with three five-team divisions within each conference) in which teams will play each opponent within their division four times, while playing six of the remaining 10 teams in their conference four times, and the four remaining teams in their conference only three times. Teams will also play all 15 opponents outside of their conference two times each. In 2016-17, the Warriors will play only three games against the following Western Conference opponents: Dallas (two at home, one away), Utah (two at home, one away), Denver (one at home, two away) and San Antonio (one at home, two away).
