Your 2016-17 Season Predictions

The Golden State Warriors announced today the team’s promotional schedule for the 2016-17 season, including a variety of bobblehead giveaways, cultural heritage celebrations and special theme nights to engage fans throughout the year. In total, the Warriors will hold six bobblehead nights, six full-building t-shirt giveaways, and 12 heritage nights.

In addition, the Warriors will host five Splash Towel giveaway nights, presented by State Farm, as well as four Authentic Fan Fridays, presented by CSN Bay Area, where all fans receive a Warriors cheer card along with additional giveaways throughout the season. The team will also hold three Crossover Jersey Nights during Sunday home games this season, in addition to six Slate Nights, presented by DraftKings, when the team will wear their Slate alternate uniforms for all Saturday home games as well as most Saturday away games during the 2016-17 season.

Warriors Announce Promotional Schedule for 2016-17 NBA Season

The Golden State Warriors will wear Crossover alternate uniforms for select Sunday games during the 2016-17 as a nod to the Warriors “Run TMC” era of the early 90’s, the team announced today. The Warriors will first wear the Crossover alternate uniforms on the road on Sunday, October 30 when the team plays the Suns in Phoenix. Crossover alternate jerseys for every player on the roster are available for purchase at warriors.com starting Monday, September 26 at 7:00 a.m. PT and available at the Warriors Team Store later in the week.

The new Crossover alternate uniform harkens back to the “Run TMC” era Warriors of the early 90’s and features the very same diagonal lettering worn by the team then, mixed with the color scheme and design of the jerseys the team wears on the road now. The diagonal lettering used on the Crossover alternate uniforms was used during the 1988-89 to 1996-97 seasons. This Crossover jersey not only symbolizes a crossover of eras, but also a nod to Run TMC’s Tim Hardaway, who was known for his “Killer Crossover.”

The Warriors will wear the Crossover alternate uniform for the following games:

“Run TMC” – Tim (Hardaway), Mitch (Richmond) and Chris (Mullin) were together for two seasons (1989-90 &amp; 1990-91) and scored a combined 62 points per game in 1989-90. In 1990-91, each player ranked in the Top 11 in scoring in the NBA, forming the highest-scoring trio in the NBA with an average of 71.1 points per game. The Warriors that season finished with a 44-38 record and upset the second-seeded Spurs in the First Round of the 1991 NBA Playoffs. The trio contributed 99 points in the Warriors’ 162-158 win over Denver on November 2, 1990, which remains the highest-scoring non-overtime game in NBA history.

The Warriors will also continue their Slate Nights, presented by DraftKings, where the team will wear their Slate alternate uniforms for all Saturday home games and most Saturday away games during the regular season. The Warriors will also have a special Christmas Holiday uniform when the team plays in Cleveland against the Cavaliers on Christmas Day.

For the eighth consecutive season, every regular-season Golden State Warriors game will be available on television, the team announced today.

CSN Bay Area, the exclusive television home for Warriors games in Northern California, will televise a total of 72 contests during the 2016-17 campaign, beginning with the team’s preseason game against the Los Angeles Lakers at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, October 15. The network’s regular-season coverage tips off on Friday, October 28, when the Warriors travel to New Orleans to face the Pelicans in Golden State’s first road game of the season.

For the 20th consecutive season, the Emmy Award-winning announcing team will have play-by-play announcer Bob Fitzgerald and 32-year veteran analyst Jim Barnett calling the action on all CSN Bay Area telecasts, with Ros Gold-Onwude handling sideline reporter duties.  CSN Bay Area provides extensive game day coverage with one-hour Warriors Pregame Live and Warriors Postgame Live; season-long, comprehensive Warriors and NBA news, analysis and insider reports on SportsNet Central, SportsTalk Live and Warriors Central, a monthly half-hour magazine-style show; and in-depth 24/7 online coverage on CSNBayArea.com.

The Warriors, who recorded an NBA-record 73 regular-season wins last season and are coming off back-to-back appearances in the NBA Finals, are also scheduled to make a franchise-record 30 national television appearances (two preseason and 28 regular-season), with five (5) game on ABC, 10 on TNT, and 15 on ESPN.

Golden State Warriors Announce 2016-17 Television Schedule

The Golden State Warriors will hold their 2016 Training Camp, fueled by Gatorade, at the team’s Practice Facility in Downtown Oakland beginning Tuesday, September 27, it was announced today.

The team also announced the signing of free agent center JaVale McGee, free agent forward Elgin Cook, and free agent guards Cameron Jones, Phil Pressey and Elliot Williams.  The team’s roster currently stands at 19 players.

McGee, 28, is an eight-year NBA veteran, owning career averages of 8.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.71 blocks in 19.2 minutes over 416 regular-season games with the Washington Wizards, Denver Nuggets, Philadelphia 76ers and Dallas Mavericks.  Last season with Dallas, the 7’0” University of Nevada product averaged 5.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 10.9 minutes in 34 games.

Williams, 27, is a four-year NBA veteran, owning career averages of 4.9 points, 1.5 rebounds and 13.5 minutes in 109 regular-season games with the Portland Trail Blazers, Philadelphia 76ers, Utah Jazz, New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies.  The 6’5” guard has been named an NBA Development League All-Star in each of the last two seasons while playing for the Warriors D-League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, including in 2015-16 when he averaged a team-high 28.4 points per game, to go along with 6.8 rebounds and 6.0 assists, in 21 contests.

Pressey, 25, is a three-year NBA veteran, owning career averages of 3.2 points, 2.9 assists, 1.5 rebounds and 13.6 minutes in 148 games with the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers and Phoenix Suns. The 5’11” guard went undrafted out of the University of Missouri in the 2013 NBA Draft.

Jones, 27, has played professionally the last five seasons in the NBA Development League and overseas. In three seasons in the D-League, the Northern Arizona product averaged 15.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.13 steals and 30.6 minutes over 147 games with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants and Santa Cruz Warriors. Last season, the 6’4” guard played in Israel and Greece.

Cook, 23, went undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft after a three-year career at the University of Oregon. In 2015-16, the 6’6” forward averaged 14.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.42 steals in 31.9 minutes over 38 games.  He played in the 2016 NBA Summer League with Sacramento, averaging 6.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in 15.2 minutes over four games.

Following four days of practice, the team will open its preseason schedule on Saturday, October 1, against the Toronto Raptors at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
