Player Bio

Cory Ephram Joseph was born in 1991 in Pickering, Ontario, Canada, just east of Toronto. Cory is the son of Connie and David Joseph, who both played collegiate basketball for Mount Royal College. Joseph has two older sisters and one older brother. Joseph attended Pickering High School. He and his brother, Devoe, led Pickering's AAAA basketball team to back-to-back Ontario provincial championships in 2007 and 2008. Devoe went on to play basketball in college and in the Turkish Basketball First League. At age 16, Cory Joseph transferred to Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nevada with his friend and future NBA player Tristan Thompson. Future NBA guard Avery Bradley was also on the Findlay Prep squad. Findlay Prep, with Joseph, won the 2009 and 2010 ESPN RISE National School Invitational Championship. After their senior season, Joseph and Thompson both committed to the University of Texas. Joseph has frequently played on various Team Canada squads during FIBA competitions. During his professional career, Joseph was also named, in 2015, as captain of the Canadian national team. Fans can follow the guard on Twitter (@Cory_Joe) and Instagram (coryjoseph). Cory Joseph played one season (2010-11) of collegiate basketball for the University of Texas. He started all 36 games in which he appeared for the Longhorns. The Pickering, Canada native led Texas in three point percentage (41.3%), assists (3.0) and steals (1.0) per game. Joseph also generated 10.4 points and 3.6 boards per contest. On Dec. 18, the point guard tallied a season-high 21 points plus drained the game-winning shot in a win over North Carolina. Joseph helped lead the Longhorns to the 2011 Big 12 Tournament Final before losing to Kansas. He also propelled Texas to the third round of the 2011 NCAA Tournament. The point guard was later named to the 2010-11 Big 12 All-Freshman team. After his freshman season, Joseph announced that he would enter the 2011 NBA Draft.
