"Svi" is fluent in three languages: Russian, Ukranian and English. He Attended high school at Cherkasy First City Gymnasia, and in addition to basketball, he also lettered in soccer and ping pong. Before playing college ball at Kansas, Mykhailiuk played for Cherkaski Mavpy in the Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague from 2012-14. He was also a member of the Ukrainian national team at the 2014 FIBA World Cup. While at Kansas, Mykhailiuk was a two-time Academic All-Big 12 award winner. Also, he was 17 years old when he started playing at Kansas, which made him the youngest player in Big 12 history. Mykhailiuk was one of the most successful development projects that coach Bill Self had at Kansas. The 6-foot-8 guard improved in each of his four seasons as a Jayhawk from 2014-18. He opened his career as a starter on a team with Perry Ellis and Frank Mason but became a reserve after five games. Mykhailiuk started hitting three-pointers as a sophomore, even though his playing time did not increase significantly on another loaded Kansas team. By his junior season, he started 25 games and hit 39.8 percent of his three-pointers on his way to averaging 9.8 points and 3.0 rebounds. Mykhailiuk scored in double digits in four of his last five games, including 18 points in a Big 12 tournament loss to TCU. As a senior, the Ukrainian was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team after averaging 14.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He also scored at least 20 points in 10 games. The Jayhawks advanced to the Final Four, and Mykhailiuk had 11 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in the Elite Eight win over Duke. He set a school record with 115 treys during his senior season and was selected 47th overall by the Lakers in the 2018 NBA Draft.
