Player Bio

Diallo was born in Queens, New York in 1998. He is the son of Marima and Abdoulaye Diallo and has three siblings. For his first two years of high school, he played at John Browne HS in Flushing, New York. After garnering attention at the 2015 Under Armour Association Circuit and the NBPA Top 100 and Adidas Nations camps, Diallo transferred to Putnam Science Academy in Putnam, Connecticut before his junior season. He was heavily recruited by six universities and ultimately choose Kentucky. During his rookie NBA season, he hosted Hami Diallo's Community Day in Flushing, giving back to his community with a "day full of giveaways, basketball games and music". You can follow Diallo on Twitter (@hamidoudiallo) and Instagram (@hami.diallo). Diallo's college career consisted of a single year at the University of Kentucky. He is currently one of four Wildcats from the 2017-18 roster to play at the NBA level. Diallo averaged 10.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists while starting all 37 games during his redshirt freshman season at Kentucky. The guard was named SEC Freshman of the Week after a 20-point, three-steal effort versus Virginia Tech. He also led the Wildcats in scoring in four games and in steals six times. During Kentucky's second-round NCAA Tournament win over Buffalo, Diallo made a career-high nine shots and added eight boards, two blocks and a steal. He was selected by the Nets with the 45th overall pick of the 2018 NBA Draft before being traded twice and signing with the Thunder several weeks later.
