Suns to Induct John MacLeod into Ring of Honor

In a continued effort to recognize excellence within the organization, the Phoenix Suns will honor former head coach, John MacLeod, when they induct him into the team’s “Ring of Honor.” The ceremony will occur at halftime during the Suns-Thunder game on Wednesday, April 18 at US Airways Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

MacLeod, the winningest coach in franchise history, totaled 579 wins while leading the Suns, the sixth most victories with any one team in NBA history. He led the Suns to a club-record 11 playoff appearances, finishing with the most playoff wins (37) in team history. MacLeod coached the Western Conference All-Stars in 1981 and remains one of the 20 winningest coaches in NBA history, with 707 career wins. MacLeod coached the Suns from 1973 – 1987.

MacLeod will join twelve other Suns “Ring of Honor” members (Alvan Adams, Charles Barkley, Tom Chambers, Jerry Colangelo, Walter Davis, Cotton Fitzsimmons, Connie Hawkins, Kevin Johnson, Dan Majerle, Joe Proski, Dick Van Arsdale and Paul Westphal).
