Kobi Simmons was born in 1997 in Atlanta, Georgia to Demond and Sadiqua Stephens. He attended St. Francis School in Milton, Georgia and averaged 14.1 points, 3.9 assists, and 2.7 rebounds during his freshman year. Those numbers increased to 17.4, 4.8, and 3.5 as a sophomore on a team that claimed the state title. Simmons continued the momentum with 21.2 points, 4.2 assists, and 2.9 rebounds per game in his junior campaign en route to a repeat as champions. Things took off for Simmons as a senior, when he posted averages of 26 points, four assists and four rebounds. As a result, Simmons was named to the McDonald's All-America team. You can follow him on Twitter (@JordanKobi) and Instagram (@kobi_simmons2). Simmons started 19 of 37 games as a freshman for Arizona. The Atlanta, Georgia native scored 18 points in his debut against Michigan State, one of the best performances for a new Wildcats player in the history of Arizona basketball. His best performance for the Wildcats came in the form of a tally of 20 points, six rebounds and five assists in a win over UCLA. He helped Arizona win the 2016-17 Pac-12 regular-season title and the 2017 Pac-12 Tournament Championship. Simmons helped the Wildcats to the 2017 NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen and decided to move to the NBA after that. He went undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft but signed with the Memphis Grizzlies during that summer.
