INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Pacers announced Sunday they have signed free agent Chris Copeland to a contract. Per club policy terms of the contract were not released.

Copeland, a 6-8, 225 lb. forward out of the University of Colorado, has one year of NBA experience. He spent the 2012-13 season with the New York Knicks, averaging 8.7 points on 47.9% shooting (42.1% from the three-point line) and 2.1 rebounds per game.

"I’m excited to have Chris as part of the Pacers,” said Larry Bird, Pacers President of Basketball Operations. “He’s a great addition to our team because he’s a guy that can come in off the bench and create his own shot or get into the paint. He’s a good guy and a great competitor and we’re happy to have him join us.”

Before signing with the Knicks in 2012, Copeland played overseas with Okapi Aalstar (Belgium), TBB Trier (Germany) and Torrons Vicens (Spain). He also played one season in the NBA Developmental League with the Fort Worth Flyers and averaged 10.1 points per game.

"He gives us great versatility off our bench,” said Pacers Head Coach Frank Vogel. “His story is a great story of perseverance and he reached a level where he was a key player on a 54-win team last year."
