Pacers Second Round Draft History

thumbnail-image: The NBA Draft once consisted of ten rounds, which was eventually reduced to seven rounds in 1985. But in 1989, the NBA Draft was condensed to just two rounds, a format that has been in place ever since. While plenty of second round draft picks never end up playing in the league, teams can still often find diamonds in the rough with their second round draft selections, like the Pacers did in 1990 by selecting Antonio Davis with the 45th overall pick. Take a look back as we examine each of the Pacers’ second round draft picks since 1989. They currently own one second rounder in next week’s NBA Draft, the 50th overall pick.

Davis played six seasons for the Pacers, helping them reach the Eastern Conference Finals four times. Davis was traded to the Toronto Raptors in August 1999 for Jonathan Bender. Davis competed in the 1994 Slam Dunk Contest while with the Pacers, and was selected as an All-Star in 2001 as a member of the Toronto Raptors.

The four players ranked higher than Njoku on the scoring list averaged roughly 96 career games. While he never played in the NBA, Njoku played overseas in Germany, Turkey, Portugal, Kosovo, Belgium, and the Republic of Macedonia.
