Nuggets lose to Lakers in final game at NBA Summer League

Erick Green wrapped up an impressive week in Las Vegas, but the Denver Nuggets fell to the Los Angeles Lakers 83-77 at the Samsung NBA Summer League on Friday.

Green, Denver’s second-round pick in 2013, scored 20 points and Jerrelle Benimon had 17 points and 15 rebounds for the Nuggets, who played without injured forward Quincy Miller (ankle).

Rookie Gary Harris added 18 points, five rebounds and three assists for Denver (1-4).

The Nuggets trailed by as many as 12 points in the first half but rallied to tie the game at the half. Denver led 72-71 after a reverse layup by Benimon with 2:46 remaining, only to see the Lakers close the game on a 12-5 run.

Harris, the 19th overall pick in the June 26 NBA Draft, averaged a team-leading 18.6 points in five summer league games.

Green wasn’t far behind, averaging 16.6 points on .500 shooting.
