The voting period for the 2020 NBA All-Star game began on Christmas Day and will continue up until Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan 20th. As the Denver Nuggets’ season has progressed, the team has discovered a rhythm on the offensive end and currently sits at 23-10, good for second in the Western Conference.
Thursday, Jan. 2nd and Friday, Jan. 3rd are very important dates for All-Star voting, as they are “double vote” dates, in which each vote that a fan submits will count twice. Fans will account for 50 percent of the vote this year, while all current players and a media panel will account for 25 percent each.
For the Nuggets, the team is centered around Nikola Jokić, who made his first All-Star game last season and has increased his play over the past month to All-Star levels of production. In December, Denver’s Serbian big man averaged 20.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game as the Nuggets went 10-6 in the month.
Jokić’s efficiency also improved in December, as he shot 39.3 percent from beyond the arc and over 54 percent from the field.
Meanwhile, Jamal Murray has continued to round out his game this season on both ends of the floor, Murray is the team’s second-leading scorer at 17.1 points per game, while he is also averaging a career-high 1.4 steals per game as he is having the best season of his young career on the defensive end.
Paul Millsap, Will Barton III and Gary Harris have all been key foundational pieces for the Nuggets this season as they round out the team’s starting lineup. Millsap has been the most accurate 3-point shooter so far this season at 45.6 percent, Harris has developed into one of the best perimeter defenders in the league, while Barton III has served as a jack-of-all-trades forward for Denver, with averages of 14.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.
