Pistons' Marvin Bagley III (hand) out at least 6 weeks

Detroit forward Marvin Bagley III is averaging 10.6 points and 5.9 rebounds this season.

Marvin Bagley III has served as both a starter and a reserve for the Pistons this season.

Detroit Pistons center Marvin Bagley III underwent successful surgery in New York on Thursday to repair his fractured right hand.

Bagley, who suffered the injury in a loss against Portland on Monday, will be reevaluated in approximately six weeks.

The former No. 2 overall pick of the 2018 draft, Bagley has appeared in 25 games for the Pistons, averaging 10.6 points and 5.9 rebounds while shooting 53.7% in 21.3 minutes per game. He was sidelined earlier this season with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee, which caused him to miss the team’s first 13 games.

Bagley averaged 14.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 18 games with the Pistons in 2021-22. He was acquired by the team in a trade deadline-day deal last season involving the Pistons, Milwaukee Bucks, LA Clippers and Sacramento Kings.
