Olympic Men's Basketball Recap: Doncic, Slovenia join Spain in quarterfinals

Slovenia secured a convincing Group C win over Japan despite a game-high 34 points from Wizards forward Rui Hachimura.

Mavericks star Luka Doncic led Slovenia with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Zoran Dragic added 24 points in the victory.

Slovenia improved to 2-0 in Group C, while Japan fell to 0-2.

Group C: Spain 81, Argentina 71

Spain used a big second-half performance to ease past Argentina, 81-71, in Group C action in Tokyo. The win means the Spanish have earned a place in the quarterfinals.

Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio led the way with a FIBA career-high 26 points and 4 assists.

Argentina was led by point guard Nicolas Laprovittola, who scored 27 points. Former longtime NBA player Luis Scola added 13 points.

Spain joins Slovenia atop Group C at 2-0, while Argentina fell to 0-2.

The two group leaders will meet next on August 1, while Argentina will face Japan.
