My Reflection

Reflecting on a proud moment with my inner child, I realized that all the challenges I faced led me to this testimony. Persevering through college is not easy, but I find strength in the Bible verse Philippians 4:13 which says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” It serves as a reminder to love myself and to embody the values instilled in me by those who raised me. I will continue to fight for justice on behalf of the friends who lost their lives due to wicked acts. The empowering atmosphere of Winston-Salem State University has inspired me to unlock my true potential and unleash my genius.

The verse Psalms 37:23-26 holds great significance to me, as it was the verse my Big Mama used to tell all her children before she passed away. Standing here in this proud moment, I give thanks and praise to God.

Meet The Artist

Sasha Williams is passionate about living up to the symbolism of her name, “Helper of mankind, defender.” Raised in Clayton, North Carolina, she strives to be true to herself and keep moving forward. Art chose her, and her purpose is to be teachable and educate future generations.

As a senior fine arts major at Winston-Salem State University, Sasha values her HBCU education, which has enriched her understanding of her culture. Sasha embodies the university’s motto — “Enter to learn, depart to serve” — in everything she does. She is committed to expanding her knowledge and using her skills to make a bold and vibrant impact.
