LiAngelo Ball waived by Charlotte Hornets, reportedly headed for G League

Ball played five games with the Hornets at NBA Summer League in Las Vegas this summer.

LiAngelo Ball is reportedly set to join Charlotte’s G League affiliate after the Hornets officially waived him on Friday.

Ball, the brother of Hornets guard LaMelo Ball and Chicago’s Lonzo Ball, had a previous stint with the Pistons but has yet to play an official game in the NBA.

ESPN and the Charlotte Observer reported after Ball signed Thursday that he would likely be waived in order to join the G League’s Greensboro Swarm.

Ball’s signing follows a solid stint for Charlotte at the 2021 MGM Resorts Summer League in which he averaged 9.6 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals in five games.

Ball had been a free agent since his lone professional season in 2017-18, averaging 12.6 points and 2.9 rebounds in 14 games with BC Prienai in Lithuania.
