Los Angeles Lakers center Anthony Davis sprained his right thumb in the first quarter of Saturday’s preseason game against the Brooklyn Nets in China, the team announced, and he did not return.
Anthony Davis, who had his thumb lightly wrapped in the 1st Q, just came back from the locker room with some ice on it. He has a sprained right thumb and will not return. Looked to have tweaked it going up to block a shot at the rim early in the first.

The injury is believed to be a Grade 1 sprain — according to The Athletic — the least serious of up to four categorizations but one that could require at least several weeks to heal.

Davis is expected to receive an MRI of the injury in Los Angeles on Monday, according to Lakers reporter Mike Trudell.
Update: the MRI on Davis’ sprained thumb will come on Monday. Instead of morning shootaround, the team will have a walk through at the arena prior to the home game against GSW, and we’ll get an update when the exam’s results come back. https://t.co/O4BYnV8Cwx
