Grizzlies Foundation and Mike Conley to host Samaritan’s Feet Event at FedExForum

The Memphis Grizzlies Foundation, Lipscomb Pitts and Under Armour will provide new athletic shoes to over 200 Memphis-area children to honor the Samaritan’s Feet initiative on Friday, Jan. 29 from 3:30-6 p.m. in the FedExForum Grand Lobby. Grizzlies guard Mike Conley will join the event from 3:30-4:30 p.m. as part of his ongoing “Shoe-Up! with Mike Conley” campaign, driven by your Mid-South Ford Dealers.

New to the event this year, each participating child will also receive a free health screening and will be able to participate in an NBA FIT mini-clinic in the Grizzlies Built Ford Tough Training Facility, hosted by Conley. Like the Samaritan’s Feet initiative, Conley’s Shoe Up! campaign focuses on providing shoes to children in need.

Shoes will be distributed to approximately 200 children, pre-selected from the Refugee Empowerment Program, New Ballet Ensemble and School, Binghampton Christian Academy, Veritas College Prep, Latino Memphis and Streets Ministries. Over 100 volunteers, including Conley will assist in the event and wash the feet of Memphis’ youth as a sign of compassion that is part of the Samaritan’s Feet initiative.

Samaritan’s Feet is an international ministry focused on bringing a life-changing message of hope to youth and children through sports and recreational adventures. They provide relief to people displaced due to poverty, ravaging wars and religious persecution. They demonstrate kindness by washing and equipping children’s feet with shoes and touching their hearts.

Conley was earlier named to the NBA’s NBA FIT Team, made up of NBA Family members including players, coaches, officials, trainers, and health-related experts who serve as ambassadors and positive role models for kids and parents. As a FIT team member, they will attend grassroots fitness events, promote valuable fitness information and continue to make good healthy life choices. The members of the NBA FIT Team have been publicly announced during NBA FIT Week (Jan. 21-29).
