Grizz Girls to visit China and Taiwan
Memphis, June 29, 2012 — The Memphis Grizzlies Grizz Girls will embark on an overseas trip to entertain and teach dance skills for the second consecutive year as they visit locations in China and Taiwan from June 29 through July 9. After participating in NBA Madness Hong Kong in September of last year, the Grizz Girls return to Asia this year to conduct various training sessions and performances. The Grizz Girls were selected by the NBA to be the only NBA dance team to join this trip and teach their skills and serve as mentors to the up-and-coming dancers in China and Taiwan. The Grizz Girls are presented by Gold Strike Casino and Resort.
From June 29 through July 3, the Grizz Girls will begin their tour in Wuhan, China performing live routines, conducting dance clinics and meet and greets, signing autographs and taking photos. The Grizz girls will then travel to Taiwan and serve as dance tutors from July 3 until July 9 in the city of Taipei. The focus of their trip throughout Asia is to show the young dancers what it takes to become a competent dancer, which includes dancing skills, facial expressions, body language, clothing choice, choreography, make-up tips and stage experiences. This will ultimately enhance the participants’ dancing skills and will bring attention to the 2012 Cathay NBA Youth Madness final event in July, the “City Championship,” where four local teams will compete in a dance competition.
With their fast-paced dance moves and exciting routines, the Grizz Girls rock FedExForum at every home game. Throughout the season, these dancers entertain Grizz Nation with high-energy dance routines that keep the crowd excited during timeouts, between quarters and select halftime intermissions. Away from the arena, Grizz Girls add a special touch to the Grizzlies events with their infectious personalities and their ability to make every Memphian feel like part of the Grizzlies family.
