(On tonight’s game): “I thought we did a great job just being professional and staying with the game plan. I thought what set the tone for us early was that we were physical defensively. Tristan (Thompson) was physical on Pau (Gasol), trying to take him out of his comfort zone. I thought Kyrie (Irving) got to the ball even though Derrick Rose had a good game. Kyrie did a great job. He had eight deflections tonight and got into the body, fighting him over the top and making him work. J.R. (Smith) didn’t shoot the ball well tonight but I thought defensively he was great all night. Kevin (Love) was great defensively, having 15 rebounds, and LeBron, I thought he was great, competing on the defensive end, chasing (Mike) Dunleavy and being physical. So, I thought our physicality really won us the game tonight.”

(On the team’s physicality): “Against a team like Chicago who is very physical as well, you have to match that or they will beat you. I think in the first two games we didn’t match their intensity and we got beat. Today we answered the call.”

(On how he handled the trade of Anderson Varejao): “It hurt a lot. Obviously as a professional you have to understand that it is part of the business. A deal got done. We have Channing Frye now, so we have to welcome him into our locker room and get him acclimated so he can be part of our run as well. Andy will be missed and I’m going to text him right after this to see how he is doing and make sure he’s okay. Obviously, he was one of my vets coming in and we established a great friendship on and off the floor. In the city of Cleveland he will be missed and as well as in this locker room, but now we just have to move on as professionals and get over this hump.”
