Four Trail Blazers scored in double figures as Portland defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 67-60 in the final game of Saturday night in COX Pavilion on the campus of UNLV.
Former University of Nevada-Reno standout Luke Babbitt led the Blazers with 16 points while Dante Cunningham added 14. Jeff Pendergraph pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds in the win. Patrick O'Bryant led the Timberwolves with 16 while Deon Thompson chipped in 13.
Cunningham led the Blazers to a 20-18 first-quarter lead, scoring 10. Both teams struggled in the second -- combining for 20 points; the Timberwolves shot just 20 percent (3-for-15) while the Blazers shot just 15.7 percent (3-for-19).
The Blazers took control in the third, outscoring the Timberwolves 24-15 to take a seven-point lead into the fourth. Babbitt led the Blazers' third-quarter charge with 11 points.
The Blazers slowly built their lead in the fourth, leading by as many as 11 before holding off Minnesota in the final minutes of the game.
Both teams return to action on Sunday as the Blazers host the Chicago Bulls in the middle game of the day at COX Pavilion while the Timberwolves visit the Atlanta Hawks in the middle game of the day at Thomas and Mack.
