Warriors stay golden in win over Suns

The Golden State Warriors (3-2) ended their stay at the 2010 NBA Summer League with a two-game winning streak with help from their 86-76 victory over the Phoenix Suns (1-4) in UNLV's Cox Pavilion. The game was a seesaw affair that featured nine lead changes and four ties. Golden State claimed the final lead change with 7:26 remaining in the contest and used a 17-4 run from that point on to put some distance between themselves and Phoenix.

Neither team could pull away from each other until Golden State's run in the fourth quarter. Each team held as much as a seven-point lead through the first 30 minutes of action, but watched as the other would rally.

The Warriors game-changing run was aided by four points each from Brian Chase, Kim Tillie and Kashif Watson. Andre Brown and Tremaine Ford-Townsend had two apiece. Ford-Townsend was the player responsible for putting Golden State ahead 71-70 with 7:26 left on the clock.

Chase led all scorers with 20 points with 12 of those coming from behind the arc.

Reggie Williams, who missed the second half due to an injury, scored 18 points in less than 19 minutes of action.

Brown and Tillie rounded out the Warriors' quartet of double-figure scorers with their 15 and 13 points, respectively. The pair also amassed double-doubles with Tillie collecting 12 rebounds to Brown's 11.

The Suns were paced by a trio of double-digit scorers with Zabian Dowdell's 18 leading the way in a losing effort. Gani Lawal and Earl Clark chipped in 14 apiece. Clark paired his 14 points with 10 rebounds for a double-double.

The second quarter was the most exciting and witnessed each team go on four combined scoring runs. The Warriors began the action scoring six straight points early on, only to see the Suns counter with a 7-0 run of their own to knot the game at 31-31. Golden State would not be outdone, as they threw together a second 6-0 run to branch out 37-31. Phoenix rallied with 3:24 remaining in the quarter and scored 13 of the next 18 points to take a 44-42 lead into intermission.
