Wizards cruise to easy win over Clippers

Posted Tuesday July 13, 2010 1:10AM

LAS VEGAS -- The Wizards cruised to an 89-64 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers in Monday's final game of the 2010 NBA Summer League at COX Pavilion on the campus of University of Las Vegas-Nevada. The Wizards never trailed and led by as many as 27 in the contest.

John Wall and Nick Young assisted Washington's offensive effort combing for 36 points, each scoring 18 points in 27 minutes and 28 minutes respectively.

"I can shoot, I brag about making shots in practice with him (John Wall), and he has a lot of confidence in me, and it hurts when I miss," Young said of playing with John Wall. "But John is a good guy, we need a point guard like that."

The Clippers had four players in double-figures including Nik Caner-Medley and Eric Bledsoe each scoring a team high 17 points. Al-Farouq Aminu added 11 points and Willie Warren recorded 10 points.

Washington held the Clippers to just 13 first quarter points and took a 13 point lead (26-13) heading into the second quarter. Young tallied eight points in the quarter for Washington who led by as many as 15 in the opening period of play. The Wizards shot 57.1 percent (8-14) to the Clippers 26.7 percent (4-15).

The Wizards continued to dominate the game throughout the second quarter holding a 49-30 advantage at the half behind Walls' 15 first-half points. Bledsoe of the Clippers led their first half efforts with 14 points and four rebounds.

The Wizards will take Tuesday and Wednesday off before returning to action on July 15 against Dallas at 5:00 p.m. in COX Pavilion. The Clippers will resume action on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. against the Chicago Bulls in COX Pavilion.
