Austin Daye scored 10 of his game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Detroit Pistons to an 89-84 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.
"I have a lot of experience, and experience definitely helps out there," said Daye. "We're gelling, and we're making the right plays, and I think if we keep doing what we're doing, we'll continue to be successful."
The Lakers had the game all but locked up, leading by as many as nine (84-75) late in the fourth, before the Pistons went on a 13-0 run to finish the game.
D.J. Strawberry tallied six points in the first quarter and Devin Ebanks added five as the Lakers built a 25-19 lead.
Derrick Caracter stepped up for the Lakers in the second, scoring nine of his 11 first-half points to give L.A. a 10-point halftime lead.
The Lakers increased their lead to 13 early in the second half and were up 65-58 at the end of the third.
Both teams will be back in action on Saturday; the Lakers (0-1) play host to the Denver Nuggets (1-0) at 3:00 p.m. while the Pistons (1-0) take on the Golden State Warriors (0-0) at 5:00 p.m.
