Turner gets comfortable as Sixers roll past Celtics

ORLANDO -- Evan Turner will almost certainly add poise, balance and consistency to the Philadelphia 76ers. His confidence and attitude are two of the many reasons the Sixers chose Turner with the second overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.

The rookie out of Ohio State showed flashes again on Tuesday in Philadelphia's 86-69 victory over the Boston Celtics that he can ultimately become a first-class player in the NBA.

Although he accumulated just 13 points on 5-of-12 shooting, Turner showed he has the tools to carry a franchise. His production, furthermore, will eventually improve as he gets in game shape to play at an NBA speed.

"He's searching," Sixers head coach Doug Collins said about Turner. "He's just trying to figure it all out right now."

It will be especially helpful for Turner with teammate Jrue Holiday running the show. After just two days of Summer League action, the second-year standout has already proven he is one of the more talented players involved in this week's competition.

Holiday fired in 10 points and five assists, including a breathtaking alley-oop dish to Marreese Speights for a vicious one-handed jam late in the fourth quarter. Speights finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Jodie Meeks also had a solid outing with a game-high 18 points, while Cedric Simmons contributed 10.

Luke Harangody and Jaycee Carroll each led Boston, which controlled a 12-point advantage early in the first quarter, with 14 points. Harangody also grabbed 12 rebounds.
