Pargo's buzzer-beater lifts Bobcats past Thunder

ORLANDO -- Jeremy Pargo never had any doubt he could be the celebrated hero with the ball in his hands in the final seconds.

The former Gonzaga standout wiggled through the lane and connected on a runner at the buzzer to propel the Charlotte Bobcats past the Oklahoma City Thunder, 86-85, on Tuesday at the 2010 AirTran Airways Pro Summer League.

"I watched Michael Jordan for many years and like him I hope I make more than I miss," Pargo said about his confidence in last-second potential game-winning shots.

The 215-pound point guard finished with seven points and three assists.

Meanwhile, it was a spirited and impassioned one-on-one battle between two 2009 NBA Draft lottery picks, but ultimately it was the lower selection that year who helped catapult his team to victory.

James Harden and Gerald Henderson, two of the more highly-respected players at the 2010 AirTran Pro Summer League, competed against each other on many possessions. They certainly didn't back down against their adversary -- scrambling for every loose ball and battling like it was Game 7 of the NBA Finals.

Henderson, who similar to his opening day effort when he racked up 20 points in a win over the Utah Jazz, registered 21 points and eight rebounds to lead Charlotte to a perfect 2-0 start. Harden posted a team-high 19 points for OKC (1-1).

Harden and Henderson, however, weren't the only players to flourish in a game that featured many up-and-coming competitors.

Eric Maynor, for instance, posted 18 points and five assists and showed once again he will be an excellent backup for Russell Westbrook in OKC.

Derrick Brown, meanwhile for Charlotte, tallied 14 points and eight rebounds. The former Xavier standout will certainly be able to assist Tyson Chandler and Gerald Wallace up front for the Bobcats next season.

DJ White and Kyle Weaver each scored 14 for the Thunder and Byron Mullens had 12, while Alexis Ajinca poured in 14 points for Charlotte.
