Williams, Kinsey Named T-Mobile Rookies of the Month

NEW YORK, April 19, 2007 – The Atlanta Hawks’ Shelden Williams and the Memphis Grizzlies’ Tarence Kinsey today were named the Eastern and Western Conference T-Mobile Rookies of the Month, respectively, for April.
Williams, the fifth overall selection in the 2006 NBA Draft, averaged 11.6 points and 10.6 rebounds for the month. He started four of the last nine games and recorded double-doubles in five. Williams also significantly increased his field goal percentage -- .588 from .357 -- as well as rebounds per game -- 10.6 rpg from 3.5 rpg -- and points per game – 11.6 ppg from 8.0 ppg.
Kinsey scored at least 20 points in four of eight games in April, and averaged 18.8 points and 5.0 rebounds. He also recorded three or more steals on four occasions and tied a Grizzlies’ franchise rookie record with a career-high five steals on April 3 vs. Phoenix. In addition, Kinsey also posted a pair of career-high 28-point performances April 6. vs. Golden State and April 14 vs. Denver.
