NEW YORK, April 2, 2007 – The Charlotte Bobcats’ Walter Herrmann and the Portland Trail Blazers’ Brandon Roy today were named the Eastern and Western Conference T-Mobile Rookies of the Month, respectively, for March.

As a starter, Herrmann averaged 18.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists, while shooting .625 from the field. Over the last nine games, he averaged 14.8 points and connected on .587 from the field. Herrmann posted double-figure scoring in nine of the 13 games he appeared in during the month of March. In addition, Herrmann recorded his first career double-double in a 108-100 win Cleveland on March 20.

Roy, the sixth overall selection in the 2006 NBA Draft, has started in all 14 games played this month. He led all rookies in points (18.4 ppg), assists (4.8 apg ) and minutes per game (38.1), and has also increased his rebounds per game from 3.4 to 5.4. Roy scored double digits in each game played during March, including five games of 20-plus points, two more than he recorded in February. Roy has won the Rookie of the Month Award for the third consecutive month.

Walter Herrmann, Charlotte Bobcats

  • March 17 at Milwaukee: Scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds in the 97-91 loss to the Bucks.
  • March 20 vs. Cleveland: Tallied 19 points, 10 rebounds, and one assists in the 108-100 win over the Cavaliers.
  • March 24 vs. New Jersey: Registered 20 points, seven rebounds and two assists in the 113-107 win against the Nets.
  • March 30 vs. Milwaukee: Recorded 23 points, nine rebounds and three assists in the 97-81 win over the Bucks.

    Brandon Roy, Portland Trail Blazers

  • March 11 vs. Golden State: Scored 26 points and added two rebounds and two assists in 106-87 win over the Warriors.
  • March 20 vs. Washington: Tallied 19 points 12 rebounds, three assists and one steal in the 100-98 win against the Wizards.
  • March 22 at New York: Registered 24 points to go with three rebounds and three assists in the 86-92 win over the Knicks.
  • March 23 at Atlanta: Recorded 23 points, nine rebounds, five assists and 2 steals in the 100-102 win over the Hawks.
