NEW YORK, March. 1, 2007 – The Toronto Raptor’s Andrea Bargnani and the Portland Trail Blazers’ Brandon Roy today were named the Eastern and Western Conference T-Mobile Rookies of the Month, respectively, for February.

Bargnani, selected first overall in the 2006 NBA draft, averaged 11.1 points and 3.7 rebounds for the month of February. He also led the team in scoring twice and off the bench seven times. Bargnani reached double-digits in points 10 times and established career highs in rebounds (11), defensive rebounds (10) and minutes (39). Bargnani ranked first in scoring, third in rebounds, (3.9) and third in blocked shots (0.42) among Eastern conference rookies.

Roy, who landed in Portland after a trade from Minnesota (via Boston) in June, led all rookies in points, assists and minutes per game. Roy scored 20-plus three times in the month of February, including 27 points on both Feb.6 vs. Phoenix and Feb 20 vs. Utah. He started in 11 of 11 games played and averaged 15.6 ppg, 4.0 rpg, and 3.7 rpg this month.

Andrea Bargnani, Toronto Raptors

  • Feb. 13 at Chicago: Scored 22 points and grabbed three rebounds in the 112-111 win over the Bulls.
  • Feb. 21 vs. Cleveland: Tallied 18 points, seven rebounds, and two assists in the 86-85 lost to the Cavaliers.
  • Feb. 26 at Seattle: Registered 17 points, and six rebounds in the 107-91 win against the SuperSonics.
  • Feb. 28 at Houston: Recorded 20 points, and two rebounds in the 106-90 win against the Rockets.

    Brandon Roy, Portland Trail Blazers

  • Feb. 2 at Denver: Scored 22 points and added two rebounds and 11 assists in 107-114 OT loss to the nuggets.
  • Feb. 6 vs. Phoenix: Tallied 27 points three rebounds, five assists and two steals in the 102-109 OT loss to the Suns.
  • Feb. 9 at Charlotte: Registered 15 points to go with eight rebounds and three assists in the 108-100 OT win over the Bobcats.
  • Feb. 20 vs. Utah: Recorded 27 points, seven assists and two rebounds in the 103-100 win over the Jazz.
