NEW YORK, Jan. 5 – The Detroit Pistons’ Ben Wallace and Los Angeles Clippers’ Elton Brand were today named the Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, Dec. 29 through Sunday, Jan. 4.


Detroit’s Wallace led the Pistons to a 4-0 record and helped Detroit set an NBA of holding their opponents under 100 points for 34 consecutive games. Wallace averaged of 11.5 points on .477 shooting, 15.8 rebounds, 3.0 blocks, 2.3 assists and 2.0 steals per game, including a season-high 22 rebounds against Phoenix.

Brand helped lead the Clippers to victories over the Nuggets and Lakers during a four game homestand, with averages of 23.3 points on .569 shooting, 11.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.00 blocks per game.

Ben Wallace, Detroit Pistons
Dec. 29 vs. New Orleans – Had 16 points, 18 rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block in a 108-99 win over the Hornets.
Dec. 31 vs. Portland – Scored 10 points while adding 15 rebounds, six blocks, three steals and two assists as the Pistons defeated the Trail Blazers 78-71.
Jan. 2 vs. Phoenix – Pulled down a season-high 22 rebounds to go along with 10 points, three assists and three steals in a 93-81 win over the Suns.
Jan. 3 vs. Golden State – Tallied 10 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block as the Pistons defeated the Warriors 99-93.

Elton Brand, Los Angeles Clippers
Dec. 29 vs. Phoenix – Had 24 points with 11 rebounds, five assists, two rebounds and a steal as the Clippers lost to the Suns, 113-105.
Dec. 31 vs. Denver – Had 20 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and a block as the Clippers defeated the Nuggets 120-104.
Jan. 3 vs. Kings – Recorded 19 points, nine rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks as the Clippers fell to Sacramento, 116-109.
Jan. 4 vs. Lakers – Scored a season-high 30 points and added 15 rebounds, six assists and five blocks as the Clippers defeated the Lakers, 101-98.
