NEW YORK, April 7 -- New Jersey’s Jason Kidd and the Los Angeles Lakers’ Shaquille O’Neal were today named the Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, March 31 through Sunday, April 6.


Kidd led the Nets to a 3-1 record while averaging 20.5 points, 9.3 assists, 7.0 rebounds and 2.75 steals per game.

O’Neal led the Lakers to a 4-0 record while averaging 30.0 points, 15.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3.75 blocks and 3.0 steals per game.

March 31 vs. Houston – Had 30 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and three steals in a 110-86 win over the visiting Rockets. March 31 vs. Memphis – Had 34 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks and three assists in a 110-94 win over the Grizzlies.
April 2 at New Orleans – Recorded 17 points, 13 assists, four rebounds and three steals as the Nets lost 106-97 to the Hornets. April 3 at Dallas – Recorded 31 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks as the Lakers defeated the Mavericks 100-89.
April 4 vs. Miami – Scored 30 points while adding eight assists, six rebounds and three steals in a 99-83 win over the Heat. April 4 at Memphis – Tallied 33 points, 19 rebounds, three assists and two blocks in a 102-101 victory over the Grizzlies.
April 6 at Toronto -- Had 13 assists, six rebounds and two steals in a 96-87 win over the Raptors. April 6 vs. Phoenix – Had 22 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and six blocks in a 115-113 overtime win over the Suns.
