NEW YORK, March 24 – Detroit’s Ben Wallace and Sacramento’s Peja Stojakovic were today named the Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, March 17 through Sunday, March 23.


Wallace led the Pistons to a 3-1 record by averaging 20.0 rebounds, 7.5 points, 6.0 blocks, 2.5 steals and 2.0 assists.

Stojakovic led the Kings to a 4-0 record by averaging 23.5 points and 5.3 rebounds, while shooting .574 (31-of-54) from the field.

March 18 at Washington– Had 20 rebounds, seven blocks, six points, two assists and two steals in four-point overtime victory over the Wizards. March 18 vs. Golden State – Record 20 points, on 4-of-8 shooting from three-point range, to go along with six rebounds in 117-91 victory over the Warriors.
March 20 vs. Philadelphia – Tallied 22 rebounds, nine blocks, eight points, two assists and two steals in 113-85 victory over the Sixers. March 22 at Portland – Had 30 points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal in nine-point road victory over the Trail Blazers.
March 23 vs. Chicago– Pulled down 20 rebounds to go along with seven points, five blocks, four steals and two assists in 23-point win over the Bulls. March 23 vs. Houston– Tallied 21 points, on 8-of-11 shooting from the field, nine rebounds and one assist in 109-108 victory over the Rockets.

Other nominees for Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki, Golden State’s Gilbert Arenas and Antawn Jamison, Indiana’s Jermaine O’Neal, Minnesota’s Kevin Garnett and Orlando’s Tracy McGrady.
