NEW YORK, Jan. 2 -- New Jersey’s Jason Kidd and Sacramento’s Chris Webber today were named Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Month, respectively, for games played during the month of December.

Kidd averaged 20.0 points, 9.1 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 2.1 steals in leading the Nets to an NBA-best 12-3 record for the month.

Webber averaged 24.4 points, 11.4 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.8 blocks in leading the Kings to 10 victories in December.

Dec. 11 vs. Portland – Had 27 points, 12 assists and five rebounds in leading the Nets to a 105-104 victory over the Trail Blazers. Dec. 4 at Denver – Had 31 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and three blocks in 92-90 victory over the Nuggets.
Dec. 13 vs. Washington – Recorded a triple-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in 14-point victory over the Wizards. Dec. 8 at San Antonio – Had 23 points, 13 points, three assists in 24-point road victory over the Spurs.
Dec. 17 at New York – Scored 39 points, his high as a Net, along with 11 assists, five rebounds and two steals in two-point loss to Knicks. Dec. 14 at Utah – Recorded 27 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, three steals and three blocks in two-point road victory over the Jazz.
Dec. 19 vs. LA Lakers – Led the Nets with 27 points, along with 11 rebounds, eight assists and three steals in 98-71 victory over the three-time defending champion Lakers. Dec. 21 at Phoenix – Had a triple-double with 29 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists, to go along with five steals, in road loss to Suns.
Dec. 21 vs. Detroit – Scored 27 points, dished out 12 assists and had five steals in eight point victory over the Pistons. Dec. 25 at LA Lakers – Recorded 25 points, 15 rebounds and six assists to lead the Kings to a six-point victory over the Lakers on Christmas.

Other Eastern Conference candidates for NBA Player of the Month included Boston’s Paul Pierce, Chicago’s Jalen Rose, Cleveland’s Ricky Davis, Detroit’s Ben Wallace, Indiana’s Jermaine O’Neal, Miami’s Eddie Jones, Orlando’s Tracy McGrady and Washington’s Michael Jordan. Western Conference candidates for NBA Player of the Month included Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki, Houston’s Steve Francis, Minnesota’s Kevin Garnett, Phoenix’s Shawn Marion, Portland’s Bonzi Wells and San Antonio’s Tim Duncan.
